How to Use Soap Nuts (It’s Easy!)

If you’re new to soap nuts, don’t worry, they’re simpler than they look.

1. Place 6–9 (depending on how hard your water is) soap nuts in a small bag or an old sock with a rubber band/hair tie.
2. Toss bag directly into the washing machine.
3. Wash as normal (cool water is best).
4. Do not put them in the dryer or they will not last as long.
5. Reuse the same nuts for 4–7 loads, until they become soft and gray.
6. Compost when done.

They work in both top-loading and front-loading machines.
