How to Get Rid of Scabies Naturally

Have you tried all the creams your doctor prescribed and are still battling scabies? Scabies is a horribly itchy rash caused by parasitic mites that burrow in the skin. It is spread more commonly among children and the elderly through skin-to-skin contact. The tell-tale signs of a scabies rash are that it is itchier at night and creates bumps and lines where they have burrowed in the skin. A bad or prolonged infestation causes a crusted rash called Norwegian Scabies.

If you have been battling this rash with no improvement, do not despair. There are natural remedies that can help. For mild cases in children or people with a good immune system sometimes a simple aloe vera gel can clear it up but for more stubborn cases this protocol is very effective:

Nighttime Routine

Get a big bag of food grade diatomaceous earth. You can find this at your local health store, sometimes at Walmart in the pool or pesticide area, or online. Diatomaceous earth is a type of sand that consists of fossilized algae called diatoms. It causes insects to die from dehydration. Before going to bed rub the diatomaceous earth on your rash (being careful not to breathe in the dust). Do not get it wet or it will not be effective. If you have a really bad case like crusted scabies or have the rash in several areas on your body, you may need to cover your entire body from the neck down. Try to keep it on all night. In the morning, shower as normal. You should see improvement in 1-3 days.

Daytime Routine

A 2022 study showed that clove essential oil (diluted at 1%) is effective in killing permethrin resistant scabies mites. Find some clove essential oil from a reputable company like planttherapy.com. Add a few drops of the clove essential oil to your body lotion or to a carrier oil like jojoba oil so that it is diluted at 1%. Spread it on your rash areas or from the neck down if you have a severe case.

Do the daytime and nighttime routine until your skin is completely clear. Wash all bedding once your skin shows signs of improvement.
